The AI founders who survive Anthropic aren't building better features.

What actually protects you when Anthropic comes for your market.

I’m Amos Bar Joseph**, co-founder of Swan, the first Autonomous Business OS. At Swan, we’re building what we call the Autonomous Business: a company that scales to $10M ARR per employee with no bloat, no assembly lines, no Cog Culture. Just humans in their zone of genius, amplified by AI agents.*** I write The Autonomous Age to share contrarian insights from that journey, on GTM, leadership, and the future of work. If you want to understand how GTM evolves beyond playbooks and assembly lines, this is where the story unfolds. Connect with me on Linkedin or X. If that's not the game you're playing, reply to unsubscribe.

Anthropic just announced they're building exactly what YOU are building. yes that's the nightmare scenario every AI startup faces today.

And for some, it already came true. Figma's stock dropped 7% the day Claude Design launched. Fintechs woke up to 10 pre-built Claude agents for their exact workflows.

So what actually protects you?

Anthropic probably has more data than you, AND moves faster than anyone. But..... their context model starts empty everytime.

Ask yourself - if a competitor copied your product tomorrow for a slightly cheaper price, would your customers jump ship?

If yes, you're not building a defensible business you're just another contribution to the hype machine. If not, then you're building something Anthropic can't ship their way into.

Unwritten context is the new oil. and in an AI-native world, software can't move without it.

It's what sits inside your users' head:

  • The deep understanding of how their specific workflow ACTUALLY works.

  • When to let the AI decide and when a HUMAN should take ownership.

  • What "good output" means in their domain versus anyone else's.

  • Why their best customers actually choose them over their competitiors.

That's the context layer. And it's the one thing that can't be closed with a product update.

If you're capturing this nuanced knowledge pieces, you might survive the Claude runway trian.

features get copied overnight. context takes years to build/replace.

it's time you stop optimizing for 'agentic work', and start capturing valuable context through human-AI collaboration.

Anthropic can ship features overnight. The only thing it can't clone is already inside your customers' heads.

How to build what Anthropic can't ship.**

  • Stop measuring your moat by features. Start measuring it by how deeply your system understands your customers' workflows.

  • Find where humans make the final call in your product. That handoff is where context is generated. Capture it every time.

  • Ask your three best customers what breaks in their world if you disappear tomorrow. That answer is your real moat.

Are you capturing context, or just processing tasks?

Features are temporary. Context compounds. The founders who understand that today are the ones building something Anthropic can't touch.
