Jensen called GPT-6 "AGI." We ran the math on our own workloads instead.

I’m Amos Bar Joseph**, co-founder of Swan, the first Autonomous Business OS. At Swan, we’re building what we call the Autonomous Business: a company that scales to $10M ARR per employee with no bloat, no assembly lines, no Cog Culture. Just humans in their zone of genius, amplified by AI agents.*** I write The Autonomous Age to share contrarian insights from that journey, on GTM, leadership, and the future of work. If you want to understand how GTM evolves beyond playbooks and assembly lines, this is where the story unfolds. Connect with me on Linkedin or X. Jensen Huang just called GPT-6 Astra "AGI". ofc the guy selling the shovels says we struck gold. am I the only one who's fed up with the "we've reached AGI" marketing strategy??

Yesterday, my whole feed was on fire. 3D houses generated from a sentence, a game built from scratch, a whole simulation running in the browser..

But nothing that I'd actually use in my day 2 day..

I sat there with the announcement open for fifteen minutes, trying to feel something..

And.. nothing.

Look, don't get me wrong. this isn't the "AI is a bubble" post. I love this stuff..

We run our whole company on AI agents.

Swan AI** is literally an AI GTM Engineer.

But I'm fed up with launch announcements that talk to me like I'm an idiot.

"AGI" isn't information. it's a word you use when you'd rather I FEEL something than UNDERSTAND something.

three years ago I would have been the loudest person in the room.

In 2023 I got bananaz because a chatbot remembered my name and wrote me a poem. I was, and I say this with love, an idiot about it.

But I'm not an idiot about it anymore, and neither are most of the people I work with.

We got used to the tech.. we're starting to understand what it's great at and where it fails.

But yesterday's announcement wasn't selling a model. it was selling a pinata..

"it's so smart we can't even tell you how much, come hit it and see what falls out."

The thing is.. we don't buy black boxes anymore.

"Smarter" means nothing to us until you say smarter at what, for which task, at what price.

We measure performance against cost, on our own workloads, and we've stopped being impressed by anything else.

That's the reason a big chunk of Swan AI's workloads runs on open-source models now.

Apparently, researching an account, scoring it, updating the CRM, and drafting an email - doesn't require AGI.

So, OpenAI.. Jensen.. WE GREW UP!

We're not playing with a Piniata anymore. We run real work on these models, we know what they're good at, and we have a number at the end of every experiment.

If you want to market to us, pls try harder.

Am I the only one who's fed up with this AGI bullsh*t?

"Smarter" stopped meaning anything to us once we started asking smarter at what, for which task, at what price, and we've stopped being moved by anything less than performance measured against cost on our own workloads.

Make vendors answer before they pitch.*

  • Before your next AI demo, send one line back: smarter at what, for which task, at what price.

  • Watch who answers in one sentence and who reroutes to a slide about AGI.

  • Create an actual shortlist.

  • Skip the follow-up call with everyone else, no exceptions.

  • Next quarter, only take meetings from people who've already answered once. You'll stop spending your calendar on pitches - and start spending it on procurement, the only place it should've been going.

What's the last AI claim that actually impressed you, and could you put a real number behind it?
