We're doing 7 figures in ARR with a tiny team and AI agents. So if agents can replace entire teams, why am I bullish on the future job market?

Most people look at the AI revolution and see fewer jobs. I see the beginning of the biggest job market in history.

Couple of days ago, I was doing an interview for a famous tech publisher about how we're building the first autonomous business at Swan AI**.

He started poking around asking how we're building the company differently - specifically how we're scaling with intelligence instead of headcount. using agents to do work that would have traditionally required hiring more people..

Eventually he asked the question everyone asks: **"If autonomous businesses need 10x fewer people, what will all those people do?"

My answer surprised him: "I think AI will unlock the biggest market the world has ever seen. The problem is that most people are looking at it through the wrong lens."

You see, every conversation immediately jumps to jobs. Which jobs survive. Which jobs disappear. Which jobs should people learn next.

But that's like looking at the computer revolution and only asking what happens to librarians. ppl are staring directly at the disruption while missing the industry forming around it.

When computers arrived, the biggest opportunity wasn't the computer itself. It was the software industry built around it.

Software became one of the largest industries in human history because we needed a way to work with computers. An entirely new economic layer. New companies. New products. New professions. New services. New infrastructure.

and most people think AI is the evolution of software. that AI is “killing” all jobs by creating an intelligent software layer that could replace the actual work humans do…

But AI isn't the new software industry, it’s actually the next computer.. (more on this in a separate post).

And so the question needed to be asked is what layer we're building to work with it?

CONTEXT.

We're creating an entirely new layer between humans and intelligence. Just like software became the layer between humans and computers.

Software created entire jobs categories that didn't exist before. The same thing will happen around CONTEXT. Companies, products, roles we don't have names for yet.

Software was the language we invented to work with computers. Context is the language we're inventing to work with AI.

Every company today is sitting on enormous amounts of context: Processes. Judgment. Definitions of quality. Decision-making frameworks. Tribal knowledge. Organizational know-how.

All the things humans KNOW that ai NEEDS in order to do useful work. That's the real bottleneck. Not intelligence. CONTEXT.

And just like software became one of the largest industries in human history, I think context will become one of the largest industries of the AI era...

Context is to AI what software was to computers. Stop thinking about AI as the disruption to survive - It’s actually a platform to build on.

The strategic implication**

Stop asking about jobs. Start asking about industries.*

• Write one sentence: the context layer in my industry looks like ____. If you can't finish it, that's your whitespace.

• Find the place in your product where AI breaks down without human input. That breakdown point is your context moat.

If AI is only as useful as the context you give it, what are you still keeping in your head?

Nobody who built software was asking what happened to librarians.
